Abtei Himmerod Riesling Feinherb 2018
It’s not very often that I order a wine for the second time on Vivino, but this time I did. I enjoyed the taste and the price is very nice for this smooth drinking wine. Nothing more and nothing less.
The Abbey of Himmerod was founded by Bernhard von Clairvaux and is located on the Eifel, on the edge of the Mosel wine region. The Abbey was built in 1134 and many centuries later, in 1962 the abbey was rebuilt. Today, ten monks work together with the oenologist of the Hechtsheim winery to make the wines. The wines of the domain are known for their typicality and beautiful minerality which reflects the unique terroir of the Mosel.

My Notes:
It sure is a lovely wine, low in ABV with only 10%. The wine is not very strong on the nose, a little bit flat. In the mouth you’ll find a nice palate of dried fruits, citrus, melon, green apple, peach and minerals. The wine is even a little bit sweet, like a hint of ripe mango. Good acidity and a nice length on the finish.
