Agustí Torelló Mata Barrica Gran Reserva 2014

Agustí Torelló Mata Barrica Gran Reserva 2014

We’re getting further into December, and that means that 2020 will almost be over, we really hope 2021 will be a better year. A year in which we hope to drink more good Cava!

This week we taste the Agustí Torelló Mata Barrica Gran Reserva 2014. Made of 100% Macabeo grapes from the Pla dels Fidels parcel, planted in 1964. The fermentation takes place in French oak barrels for 6 months after which the Cava further matures on the lees in the bottle for another 4 years.

If you have followed us this year you know I really enjoy my Cavas and this is an interesting and well matured one. Let’s look into it and taste it.

My notes:

Delicious cava made of 100% Macabeo grapes, first matured in oak barrels before their time on the lees. Loads of apple, vanilla, pear, apricot and yeast. Further there some citrus notes with lime and lemon. A touch of honey, cream, almond and some minerals. Nice bubbles all around make this one of the best Cava’s I’ve tried this year. We matched it with a brownie and vanilla icecream, a perfect match!
