Agustí Torelló Mata Trepat Reserva 2018

Agustí Torelló Mata Trepat Reserva 2018

Today our fourth review for the Sparkling Wine Week 2021, and we go back to a vineyard we’ve become very familiar with, Agustí Torelló Mata! Earlier this year we’ve visited the winery (Check here our article in the GrapeDummies Between the Grapes Series), and we’ve tasted already quite some of their Cava’s.

Today it’s time to taste a slightly different release, a rosé cava, the Agustí Torelló Mata Trepat Reserva 2018. Trepat is a grape that we haven’t heard much from before, it’s a red variety that they grow in the high mountain plots in Penedès at altitudes between 500 and 900 meters.

They only offer Cava’s that are at least Reserva’s and this Trepat Brut Reserva, is no exception as it ages in the bottle on its lees for at least 24 months.

My notes:

This is the first time that I try a 100% Trepat wine, and to taste it as a Cava is very interesting. Amazing sparkling wine full of strawberry, raspberry, apple and watermelon. A touch of minerals, lemon and hazelnut. Refreshing and sweet with lovely bubbles. If you like your sparkling wines, but want to try something with more red fruits, this Trepat Reserva is highly recommended, we actually did something else, we tried it along with an original Fideau, delicious!
