Agustí Torelló Mata Xic Rosat 2021

Agustí Torelló Mata Xic Rosat 2021

This week I’ll take a look at the Agustí Torrelló Mata Xic Rosat, this is a rosé from one of my favourite Cava producers, but this is a still wine made from the Trepat grape, from the mountains of Mediona in Penedès where they grow at an altitude of around 500 meters.

With a heat wave spreading around Europe, here in Spain we have temperatures in the high 30s and low 40s Celsius this week. So what better way to keep it cool than with a refreshing rosé.

The vineyard uses maceration and direct pressing for 5 hours to create this beautiful pale salmon colour. Further, the wine is fermented on the lees for 3 months.

A Trepat Rosé from Penedes with fresh strawberry notes, cherry, minerals, and some raspberry. Further a hint of bell pepper, hay, loads of red fruit and toasted bread. Lovely when you drink it chilled on a warm summer day or with an aperitive.
