Agustí Torelló Mata XV Xarel·lo Vermell 2020

Agustí Torelló Mata XV Xarel·lo Vermell 2020

A couple of weeks back I was walking through the city when a stumbled upon a new wine store that I hadn’t visited before. I went in, searching the shelves for something interesting and my attention was grabbed by this Agustí Torelló Mata XV Xarel·lo Vermell 2020. Visitors of the GrapeDummies know I always enjoy the Cava’s from Agustí Torelló Mata, so I’m curious to find out how this rosé tastes.

It’s interesting that this is a 100% Xarel·lo Vermell. The white Xarel·lo is well known for its use in Cava, but this red variety is lesser-known. It’s an ancient cross, with very low production. And it’s exactly that type of grapes I like to look for when I’m thinking of making a new review.

To create this rosé wine was macerated with the grape’s skin for 8 hours and then aged on the lees for 7 months. Now it’s time to review it.

My Notes:

Refreshing rosé from Xarel lo Vermell. There is raspberry, cherry and honey. A touch of pineapple, orange, butter and strawberry are there as well. This is a great wine to drink with an apéritif or some seafood. If you can find this I highly recommend it for this spring when the warmer days start to come.
