Alamos Chardonnay 2020

Alamos Chardonnay 2020

A couple of weeks ago I celebrated my birthday and received some nice presents. One of those presents was this Alomos Chardonnay which I received from my neighbours, a package with a Malbec and a Chardonnay. A review about this Chardonnay because it took my attention. I have taken it with me on our holiday and there I tasted this wine and took the picture.

Alamos wines is an own brand in the portfolio of the Bodegas Catena Zapata. You can’t find Alomos on the website of Catena, because they got their own identity. The Alamos Chardonnay is being produced in the high-altitude vineyard of the Mendoza region, where there is a big variation between day and night temperature. The winemaker of this Alamos wine is Lucía Vaieretti. She grew up in Mendoza where her family has tended vines for more than 40 years. There she worked in vineyards with her family when she was young. That was the foundation of her bond with the Mendoza high desert vineyards and making wines. Lucía is head of winemaking at Alamos since 2016.

My Notes:

A wine for me that fits between 3.5 and 4.0 grapes. The wine on its self is not too heavy, very pleasant and joyful in the mouth. Good drinkable and nice in balance. Notes of vanilla, apple, peach, some tropical hints, a little bit buttery and creamy. Nice length on the finish. In the end, I should say 4.0 GrapeDummies score.
