Arthur Metz Gewürztraminer Alsace Michel Léon 2018

Arthur Metz Gewürztraminer Alsace Michel Léon 2018

Arthur Metz Gewürztraminer Alsace Michel Léon 2018 is the wine we will review this week as an extra WineWednesday review. The Cuvée Michel Leon is a tribute for to a famous Alsatian winemakers’ family. Michel founded his family-owned company in the 19th century, while his great-grandson Léon sold the company in 1991 to Arthur Metz.

The Alsace region in France can be found in the north-west close to the border with Germany and as this a completely new area for me I’m curious to discover it. Especially with the heat of the last weeks here in Spain, a fresh white wine sounds very tempting.

This is the first Gewurtztraminer I try from the Alsace region. Peach and pear right from the start. Tropical notes with pineapple mixed with some pepper, honey, lavender, lychees and lemon. Good, full-bodied and refreshing white wine.
