Biscardo Neropasso Originale Veneto Rosso IGT 2016
A few years ago I received a Magnum bottle of the Biscardo Neropasso from one of my business contacts at the place where a work, which was the 2015 version by the way. I left it for a while and drunk this bottle a year later at a special occasion, as it was a Magnum bottle I decided to share the whole bottle immediately, because sharing is caring, and it’s a shame to leave a bottle open for too long. From that moment on a love was born, a perfect marriage. So I ordered some more bottles of this vintage as well as some from different vintages. In this journal, we are going to taste the 2016 vintage.
The Neropasso Originale is obtained partially used dried grapes, which is called the Appassimento method. This unique method characterizes the production of the wines from Biscardo. The grapes are selected by handpicking, and they only choose the perfectly ripe and healthy ones. In this process, they pick the thinnest bunches with the berries not to close to each other so that the air can circulate. The grapes are laid out in large perforated boxes, to ensure excellent ventilation and are placed in a large airy room. From time to time the grapes will be monitored so that the Appassimento takes place in a perfect way.

My Notes:
This is one of my favourites, as it isn’t my favourite one. Like I already said in the first paragraph, but I can’t stop repeating. This one has got everything you are looking for in a wine, especially for this price. A beautiful deep ruby colour. The wine is a little bit spicy and I get notes of oak, raisin, cherry and plum. The has got soft tannins and a nice long finish. A wine with a perfect harmony. You’ll definitely have to try the Biscardo Neropasso Originale Veneto Rosso IGT wines.
