Bodega Norton Barrel Select Malbec 2021
Time to review a new Malbec wine. I had some ribeye on the menu and therefore I thought it would be good to match this with a Malbec wine. Malbec should be a good pairing partner for a ribeye and so I found this wine in our local supermarket.
Bodega Norton has over 125 years of experience. One of the market leaders in Argentina. Norton was founded in 1895 by an Englishmen, Edmund James Palmer Norton. He established the first winery on the south of the Mendoza River.
Bodega Norton just started about 30 years ago with exporting wines all over the world. At that time an Austrian businessman, Gernot Langes Swarovski, went to Argentina and became inspired by the Mendoza region. Gernot’s son, Michael Halstrick is managing the bodega from 1991 until today.

My Notes:
I must say I expected more from this Norton Malbec. The wine is nice bold and dry. The wine only flattens out in the mouth and I missed a little bit of the tasty explosion. The wine got oaky notes, like tobacco, chocolate and a little vanilla. Further dark fruit, like blackberry and plum. Some leather and a little pepper. For me a 3.0 Grape Dummies Score.
