Bosc Silvestre 2017
Welcome back to the second year of reviews on our Grape Dummies website. First time visitor, or regular reader, thanks so much for visiting us! For my first review of 2021 I decided to look for a regional wine. Bosc Silvestre is a brand from the Costers del Sió winery, in the Costers del Segre region in Spain.
Garnacha (70%) and Tempranillo (30%) are used in the creation of this wine. The harvest is near the end of September during the night, after which the grapes are fermented and then the young wine is matured for 9 months in both French as American oak barrels. An additional maturation for at least 6 months in the bottle is required before this wine will be released on the market.
Let’s take a look at some facts about this wine, and then taste it.

My Notes:
In this matured blend of Garnacha and Tempranillo I get some pepper, vanilla, strawberry and cherry. A touch of lemon, plum and chocolate. An interesting mix of notes, and I’m between 3,5-4 stars, going for the 3,5 in this case.
