Cal Pla Priorat 2018

Cal Pla Priorat 2018

When visiting my local wine store recently, I asked the sommelier which wine he advised if I told him I love the Petit Nûr wine, (see my review here). He recommended me this Cal Pla Priorat, this wine is made near the town of Porrera, which is just a couple of kilometers from Poboleda, where the Petit Nûr is made.

The vines from Celler Cal Pla grow on the “llicorella” slate-based soil that Priorat is so famous for. This wine is a coupage of Garnatxa, Samsó (Cariñena) and Cabernet Sauvignon is used. While the wine is matured for some time in oak barrels.

My Notes:

Garnatxa, Samsó and Cabernet Sauvignon from Priorat. Delicious deep flavours with licorice, plum, raisins, fig and dark chocolate. A touch of oak, blackberry, leather, prunes, molasses, raspberry and smoke. Some cassis and bramble with burnt caramel. Bottled at 15% ABV this is a wine to savour, resulting in a delicious wine!
