Casa Ferreirinha Papa Figos Douro 2019

Casa Ferreirinha Papa Figos Douro 2019

As I was searching through our website. I noticed that we only made one review from a Portuguese wine, made by Ryan. As I had this red wine in my cellar. I thought it was time to make my first review about a Portuguese wine on our website. I’m very curious about this wine.

Casa Ferreirinha are part of the wine company Sogrape. Sogrape is a family-owned wine company and has got a lot of wine labels under its umbrella. In this way, they try to get a strong international presence and unique diversity. Casa Ferreirinha has got a history of more than 250 years. On the bottle is a little explanation about the wine; Papa Figos is one of the rarest birds of the Douro. It is a migratory bird with bright and attractive plumage. It arrives in the Douro region during the spring when the vines begin to bloom, and it heads south in late summer.

My notes:

A lovely fruity red wine. A wine with a nice intense bouquet, with ripe red fruits, like plum, strawberry and cherry. Further notes of blackberry. Oaky notes like tobacco and vanilla. Earthy notes like leather and smoke. Not too complex, nice in balance. Medium on the tannins and a good length on the finish. Price quality I would say a nice 4.0 Grape Dummies Score.
