Château Haut Cabut 2018
This week we go to the Blaye-Côtes de Bordeaux region in France for the Château Haut Cabut 2018.
Château Haut Cabut has been in the same family for over 150 years, and during this time they’ve been making wines. This is a coupage of Merlot (around 75%) Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, with some maturation in oak.
Haut Cabut is part of a collective of winemakers under the name “Chateaux Solidaires”

My Notes:
This is a nice Bordeaux, perhaps a little bit higher in alcohol than most Bordeaux, there nice notes of plum, blackcurrant and some cocoa. There is some influence from the maturation in oak, with vanilla and also some toast. Further cherry, leather and cassis.
The wine benefited from some time in the glass to let all notes develop. Highly recommendable for the price.
