Château la Grande Clotte 2015

Château la Grande Clotte 2015

The second French wine this week comes from Château la Grande Clotte, it’s there 2015 release that we will review this week. This Lussac-Saint-Émilion uses Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec grapes, that are vinified in tanks, before being matured in tanks and oak barrels for 12 to 14 months.

It’s not always easy to find Bordeaux wines in Spain, so when I spot one for a reasonable price I try to pick it up. There are quite some subregions in Bordeaux, of which Lussac-Saint-Émilion is a new one for me. Today I’m curious to taste this wine and share my thoughts with you all.

My notes:

Nice Bordeaux with blackcurrant, blueberry and balsamic notes to start. Plum, cedar and a hint of pepper continue. There is oak, honey, cherry, tobacco, blueberry. Loads of different notes, with even some rhubarb and prunes. And interesting wine with a broad scale of flavours!
