Domaine de La Baume Elisabeth Voignier 2019

Before we start with exploring the wine it’s good to know what the story behind this wine is. A couple of weeks ago there was a contest on the Instagram page of Vanoudsdezwaan, a recommendation to follow, and I joined the contest with my private account and won the contest. So Vanoudsdezwaan delivered me 3 bottles of wine from Domaine La Baume; Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and this Voignier. Where Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay are the more popular wines, I decided to make a review of this Voignier.
Domaine de La Baume lays in the Languedoc-Roussilon region in France and owns 200 hectares of vineyards. La Baume stands for trying new methods, year after year they are trying to finetune their processes. Like they did with introducing cool evening harvesting as the first company in the Languedoc a couple of years ago. With their modern techniques and methods, they are trying to be at the international top of the market. La Baume has given this Voignier the name of Elisabeth, named after Elisabeth Prat, the daughter of the founder of Domaine de La Baume. The Voignier we reviewing today is a winner of the Medialle D’Or, concours de grand vins de Languedoc-Roussilon.

My Notes:
My first Voignier I believe and I found it a pleasant wine. A very fruity wine with notes of grapefruit, citrus, pear, apricot, mango, vanilla. Nice soft balance in the mouth, fresh and not so heavy. Good length on the finish. As a side dish I had sushi with a lot of salmon and tuna, I found it a pleasant combination. A score between 3.5 and 4.0 grapes, but a little more to 4.0 grapes. That’s why a 4.0 Grapedummies score.
