Federico Paternina Banda Azul 2019

Federico Paternina Banda Azul 2019

Federico Paternina, is a winemaker that Dennis and I both have reviewed before, earlier we both tasted different vintages of their Reserva, but this week I’ll taste the Federico Paternina Banda Azul. This is a Rioja made with 90% Tempranillo grapes and 10% Garnacha.

The wine is further matured for 12 months on medium-toasted American oak barrels.

Facts:

Type: Red
Wine: Federico Paternina Banda Azul 2019
Producer: Marqués de la Concordia
Region: Rioja, Spain
Grape: Tempranillo, Garnacha

My notes:

Nice style Rioja, not very complex, but enjoyable. there is the influence of oak, further some cherry, plum, blackcurrant, pepper and strawberry. Not bad, but if you can find the Reserva for a little bit more, I would go for that one.
