Federico Paternina Rioja Reserva 2016

Federico Paternina Rioja Reserva 2016

Already more than two years ago, there was a review of this Federico Paternina wine on Global Wine Drink Day 2020. At that moment my wine partner Ryan gave this wine a 4.5 GrapeDummies Score. It got my interest when I saw this wine the other day in our local supermarket.

Federico Paternina established the start of the winery in 1896. And is since 2014 part of the Marqués de la Concordia Group. The Marqués de la Concordia Group represents a lot of labels. They want to make harmony between the old en new wine world. The Spanish heritage in a modern jacket, at this way they want to reach quality and consistency from the best Spanish regions.

My Notes:

Ryan’s recommendation was a good one. A lovely bold wine. A good Rioja, very tasteful with oaky notes. Tobacco and vanilla. Further notes like leather and smoke. Red and black fruits, like cherry and plum. A little pepper and a bit of cinnamon. Nice wine and this 2016 is good for 4.0 Grape Dummies Score!
