Geografico Bosco del Grillo Governo all’Uso Toscano IGT 2018

Geografico Bosco del Grillo Governo all’Uso Toscano IGT 2018

Found this relatively good reviewed wine on Vivino.com when I was searching for some new wines to order. A wine that is relatively low priced with 7,95 euro and I thought that one I have to put in my shopping cart. And if that was a good choice, you will find out later on.

The company “Agricoltori del Chianti Geografico” was founded in 1961. The company is now owned by Piccini. At Geografico every vineyard that is added to their portfolio will be evaluated by the geologist and the vineyard specialist. They advise on the best grape varieties and rootstocks. After that, they assist the vineyard owner in setting up the vineyard and how to manage the vineyard constantly. Finally, an experienced team of winemakers team makes the wine. This philosophy is combined with terroir orientation: the grapes for the higher wines always come from one vineyard and are therefore named after their domain. The wines are produced in a classic way with little intervention in the vinification process. For the Governo wine this means they make this wine according to the traditional Governo method, where the second fermentation is started by adding dried grapes. At Geografico they want to make pleasantly drinkable wines, which are also competitively priced. Geografico also got a nice looking website with lots of information about their company and wines, the link is in the facts.

My Notes:

Such a lovely wine for this price and that even with a relatively low ABV of 13%. It is nice balanced in the mouth with some smooth tannins. Very juicy wine with notes of ripe red cherry, soft tobacco, some oak and a little bit of vanilla. Also, the dark fruits are presents with blackberry and plum, little bit leather in the mouth. Good wine to enjoy your day or evening and for this price you can’t pass up this wine. My advice: Get one (or more!)
