Gran Sarone Primitivo Malvasia Puglia 2020

Another wine from our local Aldi supermarket here in the Netherlands. And when you take a look on the internet you’ll probably find not many results for this wine. Vivino even notices this wine from Winehouse Aldi. You can understand it’s difficult to find some information about this wine. But I bought this wine because it received some great reviews. And as you all know, I’m a huge fan of Primitivo.

Did I find any information? Lucky we have got a bottle, but also there is not much information on it. The only thing we find is bottled by MPL S.P.A. Forlí. That was my first starting point and from there on I came to the website of Mondo del Vino. Where MPL S.P.A. is one of the registered names. Unfortunately, they mentioned nothing about this Gran Sarone Primitivo Malvasia from Puglia. So let’s jump forward to the facts.

A lovely wine from a relative cheaper supermarket. Nice bold and smooth wine. Well balanced in the mouth. Very fruity. A lot of dark fruit, like plum and black cherry. Oaky notes of chocolate and a touch of vanilla. You taste the raisins and even a touch of raspberry. Little pepper. Good length on the finish. Low on the tannins. For me a nice 4.0 Grape Dummies Score.
