La Villette Grenache Syrah Mourvedre 2019

A GSM blend is often enjoyed because of the big flavour palate that is inside the bottle. That is why ordered this wine a while ago at Vivino and couldn’t wait to give it a chance.

This wine comes from Maison de La Villette. Maison de La Vilette is owned by Badet Clément. His goal is to make good quality wines with progressive new flavors. The name La Villette has a beautiful history. La Villette is an old neighborhood in Paris from which all of Paris used to be supplied with wine and food. This was done by horse or by boat. The river on which the boats with supplies sailed is shown on the label. This GSM blend is labeled on the bottle as Vin de France, which makes it possible for La Villette to use grapes from different regions. In this way, they hope to select the best grapes to make their wines.

The wine consists 50% Grenache, 40% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre grapes. The Grenache and Syrah grapes come from the sheltered vineyards located between the Pyrenees and the Cevennes. The Mourvèdre grapes come from vineyards located in the cooler climate of the Mediterranean coast. The grapes are aged in French and American oak barrels for a long time. Only a small part of the Mourvèdre grapes rests on the skins to obtain an extra fruitiness. After fermentation, the wines are aged separately for 6 months, after which the perfect blend is made and the wine matures for a few months in light oak.

What a nice wine this is. A lot of fruit like plum, blackcurrant, blackberry and cherry. Further notes of vanilla, licorice, some cinnamon and a little pepper. Nice balance in the mouth and some soft. I enjoyed it and give it at least a 4.0 Grape Dummies Score. Enjoy!
