Leonardo da Vinci Chianti 2019

You can hardly imagine that no one knows Leonardo da Vinci. Leonardo da Vinci was a genius around the 15th century in Italy. A polymath and well self-educated person, who has got knowledge about a lot of things like science and the human body. Da Vinci is for me the most famous of his paintings. The paintings in the different chapels, like the Vatican. And even more for his canvas paintings like the Mona Lisa and the Last Supper, where wine was the symbolic element of the painting. I didn’t even know he had knowledge about wines and I was pretty sure about that because I never read anything about wine related to Leonardo da Vinci. Until I walked into a dutch grocery where I saw the Vitriviuan Man on the label of a wine, the wine we are reviewing today.
A wine from the heart of the Tuscany region in Italy from one of the most important cooperations in Tuscany. Cantine Leonardo da Vinci was founded in 1961 and is lays nearby the birthplace of Leonardo da Vinci, in Vinci. The cooperation has got more than 200 members and they have a total of 750 hectares of vineyard.
As we take a look on the website for the wine-making process, we can read that the ripe grapes are picked and vinified, with maceration of the skins for around 8 days. The fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature of 28-29°C and during the fermentation, the wine gets intensity and persistence. Then they age the wine in temperature-controlled vats until March.

My Notes:
What a lovely wine this is! Very juicy red fruits, like cherry and raspberry. Further notes of tobacco, vanilla and plum. A slight touch of black pepper and nice round tannins. The length of the finish is good. I found it a very interesting wine and good for a 4.0 Grape Dummies Score.
