Masseria Cuturi Zacinto Negroamaro Puglia IGT 2018
Men, I should emigrate to Italy. If I take a look how many wines I tasted from Italy, especially Puglia. Then it’s a huge growing amount of reviews. Even Vivino says it’s my favourite wine region. I’m almost starting to think that Vivino only shows me wines from Puglia. It’s such an amazing wine region.
The wine of this week comes from the winery of Masseria. The Masseria winery was founded in 1881. When Tommaso Schiavoni Tafuri married with countess Sabini from Altamuri. Tafuri was a rich landowner from Manduaria, a prosperous city in Puglia. The countess brought Primitivo cuttings as a dowry with here and there were planted near Cuturi in the fertile Conca D’Oro. This was the start of winemaking of the winery of Masseria Cuturi and has led to 100 hectares of vineyards at the end of the 19th century. The winery fell into decadency and eventually, there were no vineyards left. Until it was revived in 2007. The family decided to restore the prestige and glory of the past. By now, the vineyards are 40 hectares in size compared to the original 100 hectares.

My Notes:
The first thing I immediately noticed, is that there is an explosion of red fruit in the first taste. Unfortunately, that flattens out very quickly. Cherry and raspberry are the dominant red fruits. Further notes to be mentioned are plum, leather and tobacco. Some vanilla and a little pepper. The wine is medium balanced and also medium length on the finish. Beautiful medium ruby colour in the glass. For me a well deserved 3.5 Grapedummies score! Enjoy!
