Most Popular Wines of 2021

First of all we want to thank you for reading our reviews in the past year. We have received a lot of
visits and their we are very grateful for. In this post, we want to sum up the best-viewed wines of
2021.

Here are our 10 best-viewed posts of the year 2021 with our notes.

Top 10:

10. Federico Paternina Reserva 2014 – 4.5 GrapeDummies Score – Order here!

This Rioja has a lovely nose with vanilla, blackberries and even a hint of smoke. I also get some raspberries, milk chocolate, cherry and prunes.
You can tell the oak influence from the maturation in this release, even though the wine is still fresh.
Cranberries, plums and almonds complete the palate which even has some pepper from the wood spices. It’s lovely balanced and complex.
Highly recommended!

9. Arthur Metz Gewürztraminer Alsace Michel Léon 20184.5 GrapeDummies Score – Order here!

This is the first Gewurtztraminer I try from the Alsace region. Peach and pear right from the start. Tropical notes with pineapple mixed with some pepper, honey, lavender, lychees and lemon. Good, full-bodied and refreshing white wine.

8. Barista Pinotage 2020 – 4.0 GrapeDummies Score – Order here!

Today we tried a South African Pinotage, an interesting new style for me. I get coffee, chocolate, cherry, raisin, plum, balsamic, and tomato. A touch of oak, tobacco, and leather. Further some cheese, citrus, and tropical notes, this wine really goes all over the spectrum. Even some apple and raspberry on the palate. I have to spend some more time with this style to really understand if I like it or not.

7. Tenuta Fenice Nero d’Avola 2018 – 4.5 GrapeDummies Score – Order here!

Amazing Nero d’Avola from Sicily. It’s sweet with plum, blackberries, dark fruit, blueberries a hint of pepper and chocolate. Further, there is liquorice and some sweet jam. A great mix of bold flavours which turned out to be a perfect combination with our barbeque. Don’t be put off by the syntactic cork, this is a delicious wine!

6. Peter Mertes Gold Edition Riesling Kabinett 2018 – 4.5 GrapeDummies Score – Order here!

Nice sweet Riesling from the Mosel. Full with apples, some lime and jasmine. I get beeswax, honey, and more green apples. There is some peach and straw. In general, I’m not a huge white wine enthusiast, but this one was lovely! Great to drink chilled when it’s getting warmer.

5. Terra Linda Syrah 2018 – 4.0 GrapeDummies Score – Order here!

So it was time to taste the wine from the neighbour and indeed he didn’t lie a word about this wine.

After letting the wine breathe for about 45 minutes, it was time to pour the glass and there showed up a nice medium purple colour. A nice aroma came from the glass with oaky notes. On the palate notes of vanilla, clove, cinnamon, black fruit and cherry. If you get to buy this wine, you’ll get a beautiful wine for its price of around 8 euro on Vivino.

4. Hans Baer Riesling Trocken 2019 – 4.0 GrapeDummies Score – Order here!

Can you imagine so little for a wine that tastes so great? So happy that I have got a bottle left in the cellar. A beautiful light wine, notes of citrus, green apple, lemon, peach, pear, some subtle minerals and a twist of honey. Good acidity and nice length on the finish. You can definitely order a box of these without regrets.

3. Cimarosa Smooth & Full Bodied Sauvignon Blanc 2018 – 3.0 GrapeDummies Score – Order here!

In my opinion this is a flat white wine with a superficial taste. Not really my type of white wine and it hasn’t got a distinct taste. The wine has notes of citrus, grapefruit and tropical fruits with bitterness on the end. The price is nice, but it will stay by this one occasion. A half star extra because of the price.

2. Cabalié Cuvée Vieilles Vignes 2018 – 4.0 GrapeDummies Score – Order here!

Sweet and soft French wine. This is a dark fruit bomb. Full with plums, blackberries and blackcurrant. There are some cherries while it continues with a small hint of vanilla. You can tell this wine is crafted well. Using older vines it’s full with depth and full-bodied even though this is a young wine.
Highly recommendable if you’re looking for a fruity wine. I really enjoyed it, this wine will do great with roasted meat.

1. Ponte Lungo Curioso Toscana Rosso 2017 – 4.5 GrapeDummies Score – Order here!

From the first moment, it was love at first sight, and that is what you want on a day like Valentine’s Day. A beautiful medium ruby colour in the glass. A lovely smell of smoke and espresso in the glass. On the palate, you can taste the black cherries and also notes of sweet balsamic, plum, raisin and chocolate. Maybe also a hint of vanilla. It’s a very well round wine and for me, it’s got a nice balanced finish. Definitely going to order more bottles of this wine. Enjoy!

Just like last year, the Punte Lungo received the most views on his page and why not, it’s definitely a great wine!

We wish you a great New Years Eve and hope you visit us again in 2022!
