Perinet 2016
This week we want to share a special wine with you, the Perinet 2016. The reason this wine is so special for us is because this is the first time we share a wine from a vineyard that we’ve actually visited. Make sure to keep an eye on our website for our upcoming report on our visit to Perinet Winery, as well as the other wines we tasted there!
Perinet 2016 is the classic Priorat style expression from the winery. A blend of a wide variety of grapes: 31% Garnatxa, 26% Carinyena, 20% Syrah, 18% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Merlot. The blend is matured for 15 months, 40% new French oak, 55% 1-year old French oak and a touch of 5% new American oak.
I’m really excited to taste this wine, the combination of the typical Priorat soil, along with this blend of grapes that have then matured for quite some time in oak, promises a bold expression.

My Notes:
This is a Priorat with as a base the two most famous grapes from the DOQ; Garnatxa and Carinyena. Topped up with some Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Like we mentioned before it’s matured for 15 months in oak which result in a nose with loads of vanilla, prune and balsamic notes. There is tobacco, plum, leather and minerals, the taste from the llicorella soil shines through on the palate. Dark chocolate, blackberry, raisins, licorice, walnuts, mocha and bell pepper. Priorat as we know it, loads of minerals and a well-matured oak influence! Great wine with a very bold nose!

Petit Nûr 2016 is another expression from Priorat, one that we also highly recommend, especially if you like the Perinet 2016. This wine is a blend of Garnatxa and Carinyena which has matured for 8 months in oak
