Ponte Villoni Edizione Privata 2020

Ponte Villoni Edizione Privata 2020

The Ponte Villoni Edizione Privata wine is a wood-aged wine. The wine is made from three grape varieties that are common in the heel of Italy or Puglia. The wine consists of the Primitivo, Nero di Troia and Sangiovese grapes. I never earlier had a wine with the Nero di Troia grape. So this was also interesting for me.

The harvest takes place late for more ripe grapes and finally a more sultry wine. Traditionally the grapes are picked by hand. The fermentation process takes place in stainless steel tanks and is temperature controlled. This allows you to influence the taste firstly and secondly the concentration. Then they are gently pressed. The ageing is done in wooden barrels.

My Notes:

What a great combination this is! If you look at price/quality definitely a superb wine. A very rich bouquet of black and red fruit, very juicy cherry. But also notes of chocolate and vanilla. A little pepper. Smooth and round-bodied wine. Soft on the tannins. Nice long length on the finish. A well-deserved 4.5 Grape Dummies Score! Definitely buy recommendation!
