Raventós i Blanc De La Finca 2018

Raventós i Blanc De La Finca 2018

The Raventós i Blanc De La Finca 2018 is our final wine for this Sparkling Wine Week. The de la Finca is made with grapes from some of the oldest vines from Raventós i Blanc in their Vinya dels Fòssils, in the Conca del Riu Anoia. A vineyard with marine soils with high fossil content.

After three years of drought, the 2018 vintage was rainy and wet, which resulted in a quality harvest. The wines are concentrated, round and with good acidity. After the harvest there is a first fermentation in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature, separating varieties and soil types. The majority of the blend is made up of Xarel·lo (60%), the other two grapes are Macabeu (25%) and Parellada (15%). And after being blended the second fermentation in the bottle takes place for at least 30 months.

My notes:

This is a great sparkling wine. I really enjoyed their 2016 vintage, but his 2018 is great as well. Some bubbles with a strong minerals note. Toast, brioche, yeast, stone and saline. Further green apple, citrus, pear, almonds and butter. Some honey and hay to finish it up. Like I said, a great sparkling wine.
