Sumarroca Cava Brut Rosé 2016

Sumarroca Cava Brut Rosé 2016

Today, August 18th is international Pinot Noir Day! So we like to join the festivities with this review of the Sumarroca Cava Brut Rosé made with Pinot Noir grapes.

The Sumarroca estate can be found in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia, with poor chalky and gravelly soils. It’s protected with mountain ranges against the sea winds as well as the dry inland winds. This release is aged in stacks for around 14 months.

Facts:

Producer: Sumarroca
Region: Cava, Spain

My Notes:

A typical Brut Rose created with Pinot Noir. I get loads of strawberry, raspberry and some cherry. There is toast, yeast, some almond, lime, apple and melon. A nice Rosé Cava, but I’ve tasted better ones! Nice though that this is a vintage release!”

Anna de Codorníu Blanc de Noirs

Anna de Codorníu Blanc de Noirs is another Cava made with Pinot Noir grapes, but instead of a rosé this is a white wine! An interesting twist, and something well worth exploring!
