Tenuta Fenice Nero d’Avola 2018

Tenuta Fenice Nero d’Avola 2018

After loads of Spanish wine reviews by me, I think it’s time for my first Italian wine. Let’s start with this Tenuta Fenice Nero d’Avola from Sicilia.

This will be my first review of a Nero d’Avola, an interesting grape that is almost exclusively seen Sicily. I can’t wait to discover all its fine notes. We’ve opened this wine for a small barbeque in our garden, we’re staying home here in Spain now and we really hope each and every one of our readers stays safe during this Coronavirus pandemic.

Hopefully, you’ll be able to enjoy some nice wines over this period of time, we are, and we will do our best to continue sharing our thoughts with you.

My notes:

Amazing Nero d’Avola from Sicily. It’s sweet with plum, blackberries, dark fruit, blueberries a hint of pepper and chocolate. Further, there is liquorice and some sweet jam. A great mix of bold flavours which turned out to be a perfect combination with our barbeque. Don’t be put off by the syntactic cork, this is a delicious wine!

Grape Dummies Score:

4,5 Grapes

What says Vivino about this wine:

It’s not exactly known where on Sicily the Tenuta Fenice is made.
