Tosone Nero D’Avola 2019

Tosone Nero D’Avola 2019

Last week the Giro D’Italia started. This week they were riding through Sicilia and was one of the starts in Avola. The place and the surrounding region are well known for their famous and good quality wines. Last week I already tasted the wine we’re reviewing this time. And a nice coincidence to combine this with one of my other hobbies, cycling.

This wine comes from the winemaker Baglio di Stefano. Unfortunately, I can’t find anything about this winery on the internet. But to give you already a sneak peek from the notes. If you like a not-so-dry and smooth red wine, take this one! Open the bottle a half hour before drinking and you have a pleasant drinking partner.

My notes:

What a great and nice wine from the Nero D’Avola grape. The wine is bold and smooth. It’s low on acidity and in good balance. The wine has got notes of beautiful ripe dark fruit, like blackberry and plum. Further notes are chocolate, cherry, some leather and some vanilla. A nice jammy wine to drink. I have enjoyed drinking this wine. For me this 2019 wine gets a 4.0 Grape Dummies Score! Enjoy.
