Villa Wolf Pinot Noir 2018

Villa Wolf Pinot Noir 2018

This week it’s time for another German wine. We will try the Villa Wolf Pinot Noir 2018. I remember the Villa Wolf winery because of a review that Dennis made last year, he reviewed their Gewürtztraminer, so when I went over the shelves in my local wine store I was happy to try one of their wines for myself. Make sure to check out Dennis’ review for some more information about Villa Wolf.

Villa Wolf can be found in the Pfalz region in Germany. The winery looks often for the typical Burgundian elegance, both in their wines as in the labels. This Pinot Noir, in Germany also named Spatburgunder aged partly in small oak barrels. Now it’s time to open the screw cap and taste it!

My notes:

Light and fruity Pinot Noir (Spatburgunder). This is a light and fruity red, full of cherry, strawberry and some tomato. It matured for 12 months in wood, which also gives notes of chocolate, oak further I found earthy notes, some licorice, balsamic mixed with all the red fruit.
