Viña Pomal Terruño Centenario Reserva 2014
A couple of weeks ago we were in Barcelona, having dinner before an evening match from FC Barcelona. We turned up to this Italian restaurant where they served this Viña Pomal Terruño Centenario Reserva by the glass.
This Rioja red wine is made from 100% Tempranillo grapes and matured for 18 months in American oak barrels. Of those barrels 20% were new. I’m curious to find out which notes I can get from this glass.

My Notes:
Right from the beginning a lovely influence of oak, vanilla and light wood spices from the 18 months it spent in American oak. I get strawberry and a hint of milk chocolate. Some plum and blackcurrant balance this wine out. An interesting 100% Tempranillo release, full-bodied and bottled at 14% ABV. Happy I could try this wine by the glass as it was great, accompanied by some steak. I’ll make sure to pick up a bottle once in the future to discover more notes.
