Yarden Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Yarden Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Last week it was Christmas. We were invited to my parents’ house and my father gave me the choice to choose the wine for the dinner. My dad always ranking his wines according to the Vivino score, that’s why you see the score of Vivino on the bottle, but never mind. My choice was to look for a fruity profile, so my wife would like it too. Then this bottle came up. Also my first wine from Israel.

As said the wine comes from Israel, produced in the Galilee region. The wine is from the wine house of Golan Heights Winery and they produce four labels with a range of varieties and styles; Yarden, Gamla, Hermon and Golan. This wine is from the Yarden label. The Golan Heights wine region is a constantly evolving region and the versatility is rare in the wine world, so it’s a complex puzzle for the winemakers. About their vision, they say: “To lead Israel’s quality wine culture is not a slogan for us; rather, it is our purpose and way of life for each one of us at the Winery.”
A very interesting story to read on their website about the winery and their vineyards. It’s worth reading!

My first wine from Israel and what a nice one this is. A lovely full body and very rich bouquet of fruits, cherry, blackberry and plum. Oak, tobacco, leather, chocolate and vanilla are further flavours that show up. Some soft tannins on the side and a nice length on the finish. Very enjoyable!

4.5 Grapes
